Jennifer Olovson:

Jennifer started her career in the veterinary field in 1995 as a kennel attendant. She began working as a technician where she would assist veterinarians in  many aspects of the field, including surgical assistant, bereavement counseling, customer service, supply ordering, and outpatient care. She worked for New Haven Central Hospital for over 10 years before moving to the Veterinary Wellness Center in June 2012

In her free time she enjoys spending time with family, reading mystery novels, and walking on the boardwalk with her best buddy, Marley, a 13 year old terrier mix.

Christy Collins:

Christy began working with animals in 2008, first as a kennel attendant, and then as a technician assisting the veterinarian in exams, surgeries, and many other areas in the veterinary field. She completed an Animal Care Internship at the Beardsley Zoo in 2010 and graduated from the University of New Haven with a Bachelor's degree in Pre-Veterinary Medicine in 2013. Later that year, Christy joined us here at the Wellness Center and is currently taking courses toward becoming a certified veterinary technician.

Christy lives in West Haven with her husband, Anthony and their German Shepard/Rottweiler mix, Grizzly. She also has an older kitty named Tiger who lives with her parents. Christy has a life long love of combat sports and has practiced martial arts since age 10.

Leigh Sylvester, CPDT-KA

Leigh Sylvester’s love of animals goes back as far as she can remember. As a child her house was always filled with various pets and as an adult her love continued both into a career and a personal passion. Her introduction into the world of dog sports was in dog sledding with 10 years of experience. She now competes with her Shiloh Shepherd, Kingston, in both Obedience & Rally Obedience throughout the Northeast. She holds various titles in Obedience, Rally-O, K9 Parkour, and Trick Dog Training. Leigh and Kingston were ranked number 1 ARCH Level Rally Obedience dog in the country for 2016 in the World Cynosport Rally League.
Leigh is a graduate of the Animal Behavior Institute, a veterinary technician, an AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluator, a PetTech Canine CPR & First Aid Instructor.as well as a nationally Certified Professional Dog Trainer. Leigh enjoys being a part of her local community and is a member of the Community Emergency Response Team and The Emergency Animal Response Team here in CT.

Stephanie Buchanan earned her Bachelor's in Veterinary Technology from Quinnipiac University in 2010, and then became certified in Veterinary Technology. She began working for Central Veterinary Hospital and then came to The Vet Wellness Center in 2015. She's a New Haven native with special interests in animal behavior, rescue, and advocacy. In her free time, she can be found taking her two pit bulls, Liam and Goliath, to dog sport trials and hanging out with her three cats, Zen, Weasley, and Kit.

Krista has worked with animals for 16 years in doggy day cares, boarding facilities, animal shelters, and veterinary hospitals. She shares her home with her four dogs, Pebbles (mini Aussie/dachshund mix), Brady (papillon), Roland (Pitbull/boxer mix), Ziggy (Australian Shepherd), and her two cats, Pinch and Fortune.  All four of Krista's dogs have earned their Canine Good Citizen, and during Pebbles' younger years she competed in agility.  Krista competes with Ziggy in many different events, their favorite being dock diving. In dock diving, Ziggy is judged on how far he jumps into the water after a toy, his personal best is 20'1". They have started competing in obedience and barn hunt, and they plan on beginning to compete in disc this summer.

Mary Ann Bates started her career in the veterinary field in 1989 as a kennel attendant at New Haven Central Hospital. Through the years, she has assisted veterinarians during exams, surgeries, and is always a friendly face ready to greet clients and patients as they arrive. Mary Ann currently lives in Branford with her son Tyler and daughter Beth. They share their home  with their dog, Jay Jay and their new kitten, Kitton. In her free                                                             time, she enjoys crafts and scrapbooking.

JoAnn began her veterinary career at Yalesville Veterinary Hospital in 2001 as a receptionist. In 2003 she joined Central Hospital For Veterinary Medicine as Client Liaison. While receiving on the job training and continuing education courses, she quickly became a Veterinary Technician. Although her first passion was to work hands on with the animal, she found educating owners about veterinary care for their pet very rewarding. JoAnn is currently Central Hospital’s “Discharge Nurse” which requires her to go over detailed home-care instructions which allow owners to feel comfortable giving medications, injections, and rehabilitation care if needed. Since March 2016, she works additional days with the Wellness Center of New Haven at the front desk giving the same ‘T.L.C.’ as she does at Central.

Taylor has been working with animals since 2010. First as a volunteer at the local animal shelters and also at a groomers. After receiving her associates in small animal science at the University of New Hampshire she started as a technician assisting the veterinarians in exams, during surgeries, and other aspects in the field. She has been at the Veterinary Wellness Center since June 2017. She shares her home with her dog Bailey(a labradoodle), Apollo (her bearded dragon), Theodore (her hamster), and Charlie (her goldfish). In her spare time she enjoys traveling, taking Bailey and her nephew Jase to the beach, and kayaking.
