Allergens can also be diet related, such as certain proteins and vegetables. Allergy reactions in pets can range from gastrointestinal problems to skin problems to combinations of multiple problems amongst multiple body systems.

Heska Laboratory can even generate individual and unique medications that are made specifically for your pet to help them deal with their allergies.

VWCNH offers allergy testing through Heska Laboratories, a trusted reference laboratory. Once your pet has been tested, the laboratory creates a specific list of your pet’s allergens to help our veterinarians tailor their treatments and plans more specifically to your pet’s unique health.
Heska Laboratory can even generate individual and unique medications made specifically for your pet to help them deal with their allergies — this is known as allergen-specific immunotherapy (allergy shots or sublingual drops).

My dog scratches constantly but seems otherwise healthy. Is this allergies?

A food allergy trial involves feeding a strict hydrolyzed or novel protein diet for 8–12 weeks — no treats, no flavored medications, no exceptions. It’s the only reliable way to confirm a food allergy. We’ll guide you through every step.
Heska serology testing is a blood test that screens for environmental allergens. It identifies what your pet reacts to and forms the basis for custom immunotherapy. Dietary allergies are diagnosed through elimination trials, not blood testing.
