Wellness Care in New Haven

When you arrive, make sure you check out our Welcome Board! If this is your pet’s first visit, their name will be displayed with a special welcome. Our Client Services Representatives will greet you and your pet and check you in.

Before You Arrive

  • Email any medical history and vaccination records to info@nhwellpetvet.com or text to (203) 867-5181 before your appointment
  • Bring a fecal sample (in a sealed bag) for annual parasite screening
  • Bring the official Rabies Certificate if your pet has one — it’s required by law and we’ll need it on file
  • Arrive 5–10 minutes early if you have updated records or paperwork to submit

When You Arrive

Our Client Services Representatives will greet you and your pet and check you in. They may hand you a Welcome Form to fill out, which will verify all the information we have on file.

While the Veterinary Technicians and Veterinarians are preparing to see your pet, you are welcome to sit with them in our lobby, which includes calming water features and fun, interactive, and informational components!

Clients with cats are welcome to use our walled-off Cat Lobby to separate them from our other patients.

During the Exam

During the exam, if your pet becomes fearful or anxious, our skilled team will be able to identify worsening signs of distress and recommend customized plans for you and your pet to ease their stress and make their future appointments happier.

Once every 6 months, it is advised that you should take your pet in for a check-up. This will include a full physical exam, and may also include services such as vaccines and bloodwork. Our healthcare team will check your pet from head to tail and address any concerns you may have.

Referrals to Specialists

In some circumstances, our doctors will refer you to a specialist who has advanced expertise in areas such as Internal Medicine, Oncology, Radiology, etc. We have a full team of specialists at the Central Hospital for Veterinary Medicine at 4 Devine Street in North Haven. That location also offers 24-hour emergency services.

Make sure your pet always gets home safely!

At the Veterinary Wellness Center we offer microchipping.  Using a needle, we insert a microchip the size of a grain of rice underneath your pet’s skin.  The HomeAgain®️ microchips that we use do not migrate, so they will stay in place throughout your pet’s life.

Each microchip has a unique code which identifies your pet.  If your pet goes missing, you simply alert HomeAgain®️ by calling their hotline, and they will begin notifying shelters and veterinarians within a 25 mile radius of where you lost your pet.  Most shelters and veterinarians are equipped with microchip scanners to scan your pet when it is found, and HomeAgain®️ will contact you with your pet’s location.

Microchips are great, because the tags on your pet’s collar can wear and become hard to read over time.  With a microchip, your pet will always be identifiable. As a bonus, with your microchip you will receive free use of the ASPCA Pet Poison Control Hotline for 1 year.  For more information, give us a call at 203-867-5181, or visit the HomeAgain®️ website: https://www.homeagain.com/microchipping.html

Microchipp Registration

After microchipping, your pet’s chip must be registered to you in the HomeAgain® database — this is what allows shelters and vets to contact you when your pet is found.

Download our Microchip Registration Form: [VWCNH Microchip Form] → link to Google Drive form (existing site link)

Complete the contact information section and return it to us via email, fax, or in person. We’ll handle the registration with HomeAgain®.

Above and beyond...that is what is exemplied by Veterinary Wellness Center of New Haven. While every experience I have with them is positive and amazing, today they went above and beyond to help my Otter before my travel.

Being a physician myself, I am aware that not all medical places are created equally. I spent a while researching different veterinary offices. I ended up choosing this one.
